As it celebrates its 10th year, the Doral Business Council (DBC) hosted its 3rd Annual Legacy Gala this past Saturday, December 6th, 2014 at the Trump National Doral and recognized Dr. Alejandro Badia, renowned Orthopedic Surgeon and Founder of Badia Hand to Shoulder, OrthoNOW® and co-founder of the M.A.R.C. center with its prestigious Legacy Award.
Each year the organization has recognized distinguished honorees that are pioneers and extraordinary leaders of the community whom have made a lasting impact beyond their individual careers. In addition to Dr. Badia, Jose “Pepe” Diaz – Miami-Dade County Commissioner (District 12) and Barbara Pimentel – Executive Vice President/Director Florida Customer Brokers and Forwarders Association, Inc. were honored. Alejandro Badia, MD, FACS is a hand and upper extremity surgeon at Badia Hand to Shoulder Center in Doral, Florida. Dr. Badia was educated at Cornell and NYU, trained in orthopedics at Bellevue Hospital/NYU Medical Center, a hand/microsurgery fellowship in Pittsburgh and trauma fellowship in Germany. Badia served as worldwide president of ISSPORTH and co-founded the world renowned Miami Anatomical research and training center (M.A.R.C.) and the Surgery Center at Doral. He serves as Medical Director of the franchise’s flagship location in Doral, Florida which has a team of orthopedic specialists on staff that treat broken bones, sprains, torn ligaments and muscles, cuts, sports and workers compensation injuries. Dr. Badia was recently named a South Florida Business Journal Top 100 Power Leaders in Healthcare and a Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive Leader by Diversity MBA Magazine.
